BCT Acheivements from 27th and 28th April

Author: Andy Southall, 02/05/19

While most of us were busy with the Wombourne Sprint a few club members went a little further afield to avoid their marshalling duties and they are definitely worth a mention.

In no particular order

Reece Ashfield travelled to Pontevedra  for the ITU Multisport World Championships.

Racing in the male under 20 category he won a Gold medal in the sprint distance duathlon.

Neil Millward Was in sunny Marbella for Ironman 70.3

On a tough course with over 4000 feet of climbing on the bike Neil finished with a time of 5:05:33 35th in his age group and narrowly missing out on qualifying for the worlds.

Cheryl Blewitt was in London for her 13th consecutive London Marathon in a row.

She is now classed as good for her age achieving the qualifying time for an automatic entry next year and set a new PB time of 3hrs 52 min.  Definitely getting better with age.

Finally keep an eye out for one time junior member Jacob Tipper, now a professional cyclist and riding in the tour of Yorkshire this weekend for his team Ribble  pro cycling.

We couldn’t teach him how to swim or run but did manage to get him started on his bike , he is up against some of the top riders from the tour d France, he isn’t much of a climber but he should be there for the sprint finish !!
