Lee Moreton - Celtman 2019

This weekend BCT athletes have again been out on the road showing our colours. Lee Moreton made the long journey to the Torridon Mountains for the Celtman Extreme Scottish Triathlon, where he swam 3.4K in jellyfish infested waters, Cycled 202K of highland roads with 2000 Metres of climbing and ran 42K up and over the Beinn Eighe mountain range. Completion of this “Iron Like” event awarded Lee with a coveted Blue finishers shirt. Looks an epic race.

Reece Ashfield was age group racing at the British Triathlon event in Nottingham where due to heavy rainfall the triathlon was changed to a duathlon. Reece finished in silver medal position and gained some good experience racing at this level.

Windsor triathlon sprint race provided the venue for Gary Hickman who not only got on the podium but made it onto the top step winning his age group, great work Gary. Also racing at Windsor was Ashley Kirkham who has done more races this year than I have in 10, well done chaps.

Mark Evans, Dave Evans, Steve Beck and Paul Silk were in France hopefully dodging the British Monsoon conditions at the Santini Ventoux Sportive.  Some Strava trolling reveals 103 mile and 10,000 ft + of climbing. I’ve not heard any stories so assume Paul kept away from the bar on Saturday.

Finally Meg Gregory has been spending the last week or so completing the 3 peaks challenge. For those who don’t know this involves climbing the highest peak in England Scotland and Wales. Meg and her brother Adam decided to add a twist by completing each climb 3 legged race style. This is slightly bonkers I think to myself. The journey between each climb was completed on a Tandem, oh and they slept rough each night. Definitely ticks the extreme box for me. This was all done in aid of water aid www.justgiving.com/letssticktogether
