Weekend roundup 11th and 12th May

Author: Nigel Briscoe, 14/05/19

Here’s an update for the weekend activities for 11th and 12th May

Sarah Kennard travelled to Viborg in Denmark to race Powerman, or should that be Powerlady Duathlon where she raced sprint distance and came home in a brilliant 2nd Place in her age group. Sarah also came 2nd in the award for travelling, beaten by the trio of Lee Moreton, Tim Lake and Ed Boland. The Guys were Racing Mallorca 70.3 With Lee and Tim both posting very impressive times in the heat. Unfortunately Ed Boland DNF’d in his race after crashing on a descent. I told him the wellies weren’t a good idea, but seriously I hope he’s ok and able to quaff some fine wine to reflect on his efforts.

Closer to home Young Alex Thompson was mixing it up at the junior super series against 65 top young athletes. Alex came home in a really impressive top 20 position. Early days for Alex and I’m sure he will be shooting up the rankings thanks to BCT coach Steve Lumley.

Wearing the colours of DK (Naughty) Gary Bonner was at the Market Drayton 10K where he came home 3rd in age group.

Out on the bikes on Sunday we had Laura and John Shoaf along with Shameer Gopal, Rob Charlesworth and Sam Paine taking on the Birmingham Velo Sportive a rolling 100 mile route taking in the delights of Digbeth, Marston Green, Coleshill and Coventry. Fortunately the scenery improved and all finished with a big smile.

Finally Nigel Briscoe had a trip to Cumbria for the Fred Whitton Challenge. An interesting 109 miles and 3800M of ascent which started in Grasmere before climbing many of the Lake Districts well known passes with the infamous Hardknott Pass at around 95 miles Phew.

Please let us know if you are racing and we can include it in future round ups.
